U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Jeffrey Feltman will visit Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates from August 15 to August 24.

Special Envoy Feltman will meet senior officials in the three countries to discuss opportunities for the United States to promote peace and support the stability and prosperity of the Horn of Africa.

President Biden’s National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, announcing the visit by envoy urged Ethiopia’s government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) to come to the negotiating table after nine months of conflict.

“Months of war have brought immense suffering and division to a great nation that won’t be healed through more fighting,” he tweeted late on Thursday.
