It is with the strongest possible terms that We say NO to any such cognitive bias of “rosy retrospection” to TPLF’s murderous regime!
በግዜአቸው ያልተተቹ ጩኸቶች ህዝባችንን ከእንግዲህ ዋጋ እያስከፈሉት ሊቀጥሉ አይገባም። መተቸትና መጋለጥ ይኖርባቸዋል።
አሁን በስልጣን ላይ ያለውን መንግስት ለመተቸትና ለመቃወም በርካታ ምክንያቶች አሉ። በሌላ በኩል የአማራን ህዝብ ማህበራዊ-ረፍት መንሳት የሚል ግልፅ አቋም በማኒፌስቶ ላይ ፅፎ የተደራጀውን፣ ስልጣን ከያዘ ጀምሮ 27 አመት ሙሉ በህዝባችን ላይ የሞት፣ የፍረጃ እና የድህነት ፖሊሲ የተገበረውን—ህወሀትን—መልካም ገፅታ የማላበስ ሙከራ ግን ግልጽ ክህደት፣ ተላላኪነት ወይንም ናፋቂነት ነው!
ህዝባችን ከአውዳሚ የህወሃት ወረራ ባላገገመበት ማግስት በተፈጠረ ሀገራዊ የፖለቲካ ጡዘት የተከሰተው ሰፊ የሰላም እጦት ህዝባችንን ከፍተኛ ዋጋ እያስከፈለ መሆኑ እሙን ነው። ይህ እንዲሆን የክልሉና የፌዴራሉ መንግስት ከፍ ያለውን ሀላፊነት የሚወስዱ ሲሆን በአማራ ስም ተጀቡኖ ሲተራመስና ሲጠመቅ የከረመው ባለቤት አልባው የጡዘት ፖለቲካ የራሱን ድርሻ የማይወስድ አይሆንም። በህዝባችን ላይ ለደረሰው ምስቅልቅል ምክንያት የሆነን ሁሉ በድርሻው መተቸትና ማጋለጥ ይጠበቃል አስፈላጊም ነው። በኢኮኖሚ ትንታኔ ሰበብ የህወሃት የግዞት ዘመን የተሻለ ነበርና ወደ ቅድመ 2010 ዓ.ም ፖለቲካዊ ምጣኔ እንመለስ ማለት ግን ይቅር የማይባል ህወሀትን የመናፈቅና በአማራ ህዝብ ህልውና ላይ እንደመቆመር እንቆጥረዋለን። ግልጽ ክህደት ነው! እንደ ሀገር ህወሀትን ጨርሶ ማሸነፍ አለመቻል ህወሀትን የተሻለ ሀይል ለማለትና መመለሱን ለመናፈቅ ፈጽሞ አስቻይ አመክንዮ አይሆንም።
ህዝባችን ከገጠመው ቀውስ እንዲላቀቅ የሁሉንም አካል ጥረትና መደማመጥ በሚፈልግበት በዚህ ወቅት በአንዳንድ መድረኮች በህዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት ጭምር በመራራ የህዝብ ትግል የተወገደውን የህወሀት መራሹን ስርዓት የልማት እና የመልካም አስተዳደር መስፈሪያ አድረገው የሚያቀርቡ ግለሰቦች ሀሳብ ግን ትግላችንን የሚጻረር እና ህወሀት በአማራ ህዝብ ላይ የፈጸመውን ዘርፈ ብዙ ግፍ እንደመካድ የሚቆጠር እንዲሁም ከወንጀሎች ነጻ ለማድረግ ጥረት እየተደረገ መሆኑን እና እጅግ አደገኛ ትርክት መሆኑን መላው የአማራ ህዝብ እንዲረዳው እንፈልጋለን።
ለማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ሞቅታ እና ለርካሽ የፌስቡክ ተወዳጅነት እየተሰላ በህዝባችን ላይ ጉዳትን የሚጋብዙና የጋበዙ ንግግሮች ከከፍተኛ የመንግስት ሀላፊነት ላይ ካሉ ሰወች ጀምሮ በተለያዩ ሀላፊነት ላይ በሚገኙ ሰወች ሲነገር ቆይቷል። በወቅቱ ያልተተቹ ንግግሮች ተጠራቅመው ህዝባችንን ሲጎዱ ተመልክተናል። ሆኖም መሠል ሀላፊነት የጎደላቸውን ንግግሮችና የተደበቁ ፍላጎቶችን በትኩስ በአደባባይና በሚዲያ ጭምር የምንጋፈጣቸው ይሆናል።
There are several legitimate reasons to oppose the current government. There are also credible ways to express dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. However, to call for a return to a pre 2018 phenomenon of political economy and to romanticize TPLF is clearly a cognitive bias, a distortion of historical memory; it is morally repugnant.
Those who look back at authoritarian TPLF regime with unwarranted fondness, ignoring the atrocities committed under its governance are either in a serious psychological forgetfulness or they are consciously serving TPLF’s renewed war-mongering.
Such psychological exhibition of what is known as ‘rosy retrospection’ — remembering the past as better than it was is ethically troubling. It involves a form of historical amnesia where the unpleasant truths and negative aspects of the regime are erased.
Such a political campaign for a return to the “good old days,” which, more often than not, were not good at all is both tactically and strategically a deservice to the people of Amhara and to Ethiopia at large.
Such a trend is counterproductive as it often pleads for policies that do not address the current issues effectively, or worse, exacerbate existing problems.
We should therefore take the initiative to strongly critique similar nostalgia-laden political rhetorics being made in the name of Amhara.
Let it be emphasized once again that, while it is natural for people to feel disenchantment with the current political situation, glorifying the TPLF regime as a method of expressing discontent with the present is not only misleading but dangerous. It disrespects the people who suffered under the TPLF regime.
What may be needed most instead is a rational engagement with the past and a forward-looking approach to addressing contemporary problems. This indeed should be the cornerstone of political discourse in Ethiopia today and tomorrow.
We say NO to TPLF !
There is no doubt that TPLF is the fountain of the major political predicaments that have befallen the Amhara people over the years.
